This is a reduction monotype print. The title "Mirai" means future in Japanese.
As you walk further, you are walking into the future. Whatever it is that is awaiting for you, trust in your steps and keep walking. Then, your future becomes you.

Artist Statement
Having Japanese cultural background and living in the States for several years, my perspective is quite unique, because my vision is a fusion of strong Orientalism and Western culture.
I have practiced tea ceremony, calligraphy, abacus, drawing, piano for many years, and I have a strong multi-cultural background. In Japanese, the word 道(Dou) means "The way of". In Japan, I had the opportunity to practice 書道(Shodou - calligraphy) and 茶道 (Sadou - tea ceremony). These "ways" not only focus on the method but also has deep spiritual meaning. That same focus on method and spiritualism flow out of my works.
