This project began as an assignment in advanced type and layout. The project was to create a magazine masthead, cover, and spread based on something that happened in Hollywood during the year 1961. I landed on using the movie "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" to write my story and to inspire my illustrations. I knew that I wanted the piece to be heavily illustration based because I wanted to really push my abilities in that area. I spent a tone of time working on layer organization and creating gradients to give my illustrations some form.
