This painting is done with oils on canvas. My inspiration for this piece was a portrait photograph I saw on the internet. I always start my paintings by sketching directly on the canvas. I then transition to acrylic paints and then oils.

Artist Statement
I am a mostly self taught artist. I took a few High School art classes, but our programs weren't very good. I ended up doing a lot of learning through experience and watching YouTube videos. I have been oil painting for a little over a year now, and portraits and figures are my favorite things to paint. There is something magical about capturing the emotions of your subjects in the artwork. I am currently attending SLCC as a concurrent enrollment student, but I am attending a liberal arts college starting this fall.
