An accordian style book made with bookboard covers for "pages." Each page is covered in high quality industry standard book cloth. My calligraphy work (done in Higgings Eternal ink & Piolt felt tip pen, then accented in real gold leaf (on the first page) and gold gel pen on each page) is firmly affixed to each page. The pages are bound together with ribbon.
This piece is done in four different caligraphic alphabets. Including the old fashioned alphabets: Black Letter and Uncial, and then the more modern alphabets: Monoline Uncial and Neuland.
The book is meant to be a 3D display, not to be laid flat on a wall or desk. The dimensions are the dimensions of the art piece while standing upright in the accordian position.
This piece was done for my final project in my ART 1060 class: History and Art of Lettering and Calligraphy. I was honored to have Mrs. Louona Tanner as my teacher for this course. She went above and beyond to help me acquire the knowledge, skills and resources needed to complete this piece.
