Princess Alice Takes a Stroll

Created with acrylic paint. This piece was inspired by a local story of an elephant named Princess Alice who was purchased from a traveling circus in 1916. She joined the original zoo at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, but the enclosure wasn't strong enough. On several occasions, she broke out and wandered the streets of Sugarhouse, breaking fences and taking down clotheslines.

Artist Statement

Katie is studying Graphic Design at Salt Lake Community College. She enjoys using a variety of mediums for traditional art, including acrylics, watercolors, pencils, calligraphy ink, and pastels. She frequently participates in chalk art festivals during the summer months. She also enjoys creating digital and print marketing materials and concert programs for a local community symphony orchestra.
