Artist Statement
Gina Portugal’s synesthesia comes alive with the vivacious colors and warm light of her upbringing. Mexico City and Florida surrounded her with symmetrical but complex architecture and bright foliage. Her photography reflects this blend of the personal, her own unique and blurring sensations, with universal formal elements like patterns and unity.
